About

Design Philosophy : Beautiful, useful & ethical

Mika Chiba began her design career as a graphic designer for a printing company, and continued this vocation for over a decade. During her long term involvement with graphic design and printing industries, an interest was sparked in product design.

Mika pursued this new passion, and returned to study, graduating with both a Diploma of Product Design, RMIT University in 2013 and an Associate Degree in Design (Furniture), RMIT University 2016. Mika was nominated for a number of awards, including the Craft Victoria Award Finalist 2019 & 2017, the product design Graduation Of The Year Award(GOTYA) 2013 and received the furniture design runner-up GOTYA 2016.

After completing her studies and with further exposure to the industry, Mika became dissatisfied with the immense volume of waste created with each new product, from the initial production process to the end of the object's life, and proposes a solution. Mika uses her in-depth knowledge of design, material selection and manufacturing processes to create long-term use products, which are also practical and beautiful.
